Top 5 Cydia Apps
Welp time to crunch. I could easily come up with a list of 100 great Cydia apps but fuck all the typing. These Cydia apps are the reason to jailbreak your iPhone. Big thanks to Saurik the creator of Cydia for making all of this possible. Without Cydia we would all be lost and all these great apps would be either non-existent or very difficult for the average user to install. Without further ado my Top 5 Cydia Apps
I'll be going over more Cydia Apps and Jailbreak tricks in much further depth, soon. Stay tuned...
- Winterboard - Tired of looking at same exact iPhone theme all the time? Look no further, from the creator of Cydia, Winterboard. This App will let you change every image, sound and more. Thousands of pre-made themes for this baby await you on Cydia. And to put the icing on the cake, it's modular! You can easily mix and match themes together giving your iPhone a fresh look.
- Installous - Want free Appstore apps? This App will let you find, download and install any Appstore app right on your iPhone for free! Yes, these are illegal downloads. But seriously 80% of the apps on the Appstore are completely worthless. My philosophy has always been try it, if you like it, then buy it. The Hackulous team has put together a new site, Apptrackr, and it's faster then ever before!
- SBSettings - Quick and easy settings toggles from within any application. Simply slide your finger across the status bar and this customizable toggle menu will drop down. No longer will you have to suffer from closing your current application to make simple changes. There are several other features and additional toggles that can be downloaded for all your quick setting toggle needs.
- iRealSMS - Easily the best SMS / Text MSG app out there. Text from within any application. Quick reply, quick send, contact pictures, picture messaging support, privacy settings and much more. This is definitely an app I can not live without. It really does make texting the easiest function on my iPhone.
- Music Controls - Adds backgrounding and system integration into many popular music applications and gives you many ways to control your music, via popup controls, lockscreen controls, headset controls, statusbar controls and lockscreen swipe gestures. Music Controls has support for 26 different programs.

I've been heavily hooked on smartphones ever since I got my
first one many years ago. I've always tried to do new cool things on my
devices and keep up with the new software and tweaks being released.
For a long while I was reluctant to even try an Apple iPhone. I was
very much stuck in the Windows Mobile scene, good ole XDA Developers.
One day, sometime in April 2009, my buddy presented me with a device that would forever change my views with smart phones, an iPhone 2G. At a first use this beauty was way faster, more responsive, intuitive, and stable then my current AT&T Tilt. I quickly became very attached to Apple's iPhone OS. However coming from the Windows Mobile platform I quickly ran into a wall. How do I fully customize this phone like I could with my old phones? Where is my file explorer? Where is my task manager? Why don't programs run in the background? Don't get me wrong iTunes has a lot to offer in terms of applications for the iPhone but nothing related to tweaks or customization.
This led me to look into what I heard Apple had hated soo much, jailbreaking. Not being part of the scene I didn't know exactly what a jailbreak really was. Only one way to find out right? After jailbreaking my iPhone I quickly found out all the benefits of the iPhone Jailbreak. A jailbroken iPhone relies solely on one App, Cydia. Cydia is basically an Appstore for all the apps, tweaks, and customization that Apple will not approve for their Appstore. More to come.....
